Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Runna Media ("Runna Media," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit runnamedia.com (the "Site") or use our services. It also describes the privacy rights of California, U.S. state, and European/UK residents and how to exercise them. If you are a California resident, see California Privacy Rights. To change cookie choices, see Cookies & Tracking or use the Your Privacy Choices controls.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
Runna Media is a media production company based in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us using the details in Contact Us.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples | Source | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers & contact data | Name, email address, phone number, company name | You (forms, email, calls) | Respond to inquiries, provide services, send requested materials |
| Project information | Project needs, budget, timeline, preferences, messages | You | Scope and deliver our services |
| Billing information | Billing address and payment details | You (processed by our payment processor) | Process payments and invoices |
| Internet/device activity | IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring pages, time on page, approximate location | Automatically, via cookies and analytics | Operate, secure, measure, and improve the Site and our advertising |
| Marketing data | Email subscription status and engagement | You (when you opt in) | Send newsletters and offers you requested |
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, health, or precise geolocation) and we do not knowingly collect information from children (see Children's Privacy).
3. How We Use Your Information & Legal Bases
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services and the Site;
- Respond to inquiries, process project requests, and provide customer support;
- Process payments and send invoices, receipts, and confirmations;
- Send marketing emails to people who have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- Measure and analyze Site usage and advertising performance; and
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (to provide services you request), consent (for analytics/advertising cookies and marketing email — which you can withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (to secure and improve our Site and business), and legal obligation (to meet recordkeeping and compliance duties).
4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and support advertising. On your first visit we display a consent banner. We use Google Consent Mode v2: Google analytics and advertising tags are set to a denied state by default and only load if you click Accept. If you click Decline (or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control / "Do Not Sell" signal), those Google tags remain off. You can change your choice at any time via the "Manage Cookies" or "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" links in our footer.
On our advertising landing pages (URLs beginning with /go/), which you typically reach by clicking one of
our ads, we also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure ad performance. On those pages the Pixel
loads by default, but we honor your choices: if you have clicked Decline on our Site, or your browser
sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the Meta Pixel does not load. You can opt out of Meta's ad
personalization at facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
| Type | Provider / examples | Purpose | Typical retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Our consent-preference cookie (rm-consent) | Remember your cookie choice; core Site function | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) | Understand how visitors use the Site | Up to 14 months |
| Advertising | Google Ads (conversion & remarketing) | Measure ad performance and reach past visitors | Up to 13 months (varies) |
| Advertising | Meta (Facebook) Pixel — /go/ ad landing pages only (_fbp, _fbc) | Measure the performance of our Meta ads | Up to 90 days |
You can also opt out directly with Google:
- Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Google Ads personalization settings: adssettings.google.com
- Learn how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We disclose personal information to:
- Service providers / processors who act on our behalf, including: Google LLC (analytics & advertising — privacy policy); Netlify (Site hosting and contact-form handling — privacy policy); FormSubmit (lead-form email delivery — formsubmit.co); and our email-marketing and payment providers.
- Advertising partners. When you accept advertising cookies, our use of Google Ads may involve "sharing" your online identifiers for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law. You can opt out at any time — see Your Privacy Choices.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Legal & safety reasons, when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
6. Your Privacy Choices (Do Not Sell or Share)
You can limit our use of cookies and the "sharing" of your information for advertising at any time:
- Click "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" or "Manage Cookies" in the footer of any page and choose Decline.
- We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out of sharing for browsers that send them.
- To unsubscribe from marketing emails, click "unsubscribe" in any email or contact us.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these choices.
7. Data Retention
- Contact / lead-form submissions: up to 24 months after last contact, then deleted or anonymized.
- Client project files & records: per contract; project files typically retained for 90 days after final delivery, and billing records as required by law (generally up to 7 years).
- Marketing email list: until you unsubscribe, then suppressed/removed.
- Analytics & advertising cookies: see the retention column in Section 4.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know / Access the personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete your personal information;
- Opt out of "sale"/"sharing" and of targeted advertising;
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (EU/UK); and
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any right, email privacy@runnamedia.com (or hello@runnamedia.com), call +1 (815) 345-0055, or use our contact form. We will verify your request (typically by confirming details associated with your information) and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the rights described in Section 8, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. In the preceding 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 (identifiers, commercial information, internet/network activity, and inferences drawn for advertising). We disclose these categories to the service providers and advertising partners listed in Section 5 for the business and commercial purposes described above.
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. Our use of advertising cookies may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising; you can opt out via Your Privacy Choices or GPC. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.
10. European & UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the rights described in Section 8, exercisable against us as controller (legal bases in Section 3). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Where we transfer personal information to the United States or other countries, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
11. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (including encryption in transit and access controls) to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
12. Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites and services (for example, our scheduling, portal, and social media links). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their privacy policies.
13. Children's Privacy
Our services are directed to businesses and are not intended for individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT, we do not respond to DNT signals, but we do honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as described in Your Privacy Choices.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here with a new "Last Updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice.
